The autumn has been particularly eventful for Kadeco, and it is clear that there is strong interest in the K64 development plan and the progress taking place in the area. Below is a brief overview of the closing season’s biggest milestones.
Kadeco Employees on the Move

In October, the board of Kadeco traveled to Amsterdam to visit the Schiphol Airport Development Corporation (SADC), an organization with much in common with Kadeco and nearly forty years of experience in successful operations. SADC is a collaborative platform between municipalities, the City of Amsterdam, the airport, and the Province of North Holland. The board examined, among other things, how the airport area has evolved and how large industrial zones benefit from their proximity to the airport.

Pálmi Freyr Randversson, CEO of Kadeco, attended the 30th-anniversary conference of the IAAE (International Association of Airport Administrators), where he presented the K64 development plan and discussed the development of the Keflavík Airport area. He also took part in a panel on the future of airport operations in an ever-changing world.
Elín Guðnadóttir, Senior Project Manager at Kadeco, participated in a panel organized by Real Asset Media at Expo Real in Munich in early October, one of Europe’s largest real estate exhibitions and conferences. Elín highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability and environmental considerations from the very beginning of planning, and the many opportunities this creates for the K64 airport area. Here you can read the full interview.
In early September, Elín Guðnadóttir and Samúel Torfi Pétursson attended the Airport City Developers Forum held at the Munich Airport Area. This annual gathering brings together professionals involved in airport-area development as well as real estate and industrial planning. Monitoring developments in comparable projects worldwide is an essential part of any airport-area development, and Kadeco places strong emphasis on being an active participant in conversations among international experts. This engagement promotes innovation and best practices in the field. Here you can read about the conference.

In October, together with Isavia, we welcomed the new Reykjavík City Planning and Construction Office to Kadeco’s headquarters. The purpose of the visit was to introduce them to current operations and future plans for Keflavík Airport and the surrounding area. On behalf of Kadeco, Development Director Samúel Torfi Pétursson and Senior Project Manager Elín Guðnadóttir presented the K64 development plan and upcoming developments in the area.
The K64 development plan was also recognized as one of the ten best construction projects internationally by the magazine Real FDI, which monitors investments and development in the real estate and industrial sectors. This recognition confirms that K64 is at the forefront of successful airport-area development.
