BM Vallá to operate a new concrete blending station at Tæknivellir

Concrete manufacturer BM Vallá is erecting a new concrete blending station at Tæknivellir industrial area, located in Ásbrú in Reykjanesbær. The company made a plot lease agreement with Kadeco earlier this year and the station will be operational this fall. The new concrete blending station will support the development planned in Suðurnes in the coming years.

The new concrete blending station is designed to minimize environmental impact from it’s production. It will reuse all residual concrete and water from its concrete blending process, trucks and pumps. This approach makes it possible to reuse all ingredients in the blending process and make sure no unwanted materials are delivered to the municipal sewage systems.

“We at BM Vallá have great confidence in the future growth of Reykjanesbær and are excited to support the promising developments ahead. Our new concrete plant in Ásbrú will deliver high-quality, efficient, and technologically advanced production that will strengthen our services to the construction industry in the Suðurnes region. Guided by our commitment to sustainability, we ensure the complete processing of buildings and sculptures, minimize our carbon footprint, and offer environmentally friendly concrete solutions for the future,” says Þorsteinn Víglundsson, CEO of BM Vallá.

“BM Vallá’s investment in the area is a very positive step, as the company has made a good name for itself with its sustainability and environmentally friendly policies. The company has so far received two recognised awards for its contribution in that field. For example, BM Vallá offers ecologically friendly concrete with 45% less carbon footprint than comparable concrete, according to the Building code,“ says Samúel Torfi Pétursson, Head of Development at Kadeco.

The new concrete blending station is very well situated at Tæknivellir, an area that according to the K64 masterplan is designated for light industry and varied companies that for example can focus on B2B businesses in Suðurnes. BM Vallá plans to start operations in September or October 2025.
