One such company is Aðaltorg ehf., a real estate development firm focused on strengthening the area's service infrastructure, for both travelers passing through Keflavík Airport and residents of the surrounding communities.

Aðaltorg‘s team members all have deep ties to Suðurnes. According to Ingvar Eyfjörð, Managing Director of Aðaltorg, the company’s mission is to develop services that meet the needs of both international visitors and local residents.

“The analysis that underpins the K64 development plan was key in identifying the area’s potential,” says Ingvar. “It completely reshaped how we approached our development strategy.” Ingvar emphasizes that Aðaltorg‘s involvement in the K64 area is driven by a desire to contribute to the region’s long-term growth.

“We’re all locals, and from the beginning, we wanted to be part of the continued development of our community,” he explains. “There are so many opportunities to enhance services in this area — not just for tourists, but also for people living here. I believe it’s essential that this kind of development is carried out collaboratively and with open dialogue. K64 has provided a strong framework for that."

Looking ahead, Aðaltorg is actively working on expanding its presence. When asked about the company’s long-term vision, Ingvar expresses a clear goal: to become a key service hub for the local community and the airport area alike. “I think Kadeco has done a fantastic job laying the groundwork. They've created a thoughtful, strategic blueprint that we can build on for years to come.”

The K64 masterplan is a long-term development plan for the area surrounding Keflavík Airport, outlining a shared vision for sustainable growth through 2050. Led by Kadeco in collaboration with a broad group of domestic and international stakeholders, the plan emphasizes cooperation between municipalities and other key actors. The aim is to foster balanced, future-focused development that supports prosperity across the region.
