Háaleitisskóli Receives Incentive Award

Háaleitisskóli, the primary school in Ásbrú, has received this year’s Incentive Award at the Icelandic Education Awards 2025, presented last week at Bessastaðir.

The Icelandic Education Awards highlight innovative and high-quality work in schools and leisure education, recognizing outstanding contributions to educational improvement across all school levels.

In its remarks, the jury commended Háaleitisskóli for successfully fostering an exceptionally positive and inclusive school culture. Seven out of every ten students are of foreign origin with a total of 30 languages spoken at the school. The school places strong emphasis on collaboration with parents and building a supportive learning environment.

“It’s wonderful to see our neighbors at Háaleitisskóli receive the recognition they truly deserve. We got to know this fantastic group of children and staff when we collaborated with them and ÞYKJÓ on the Children at the Table project,” says Pálmi Freyr Randversson, CEO of Kadeco.

“Ásbrú is one of Kadeco’s focus areas, and the K64 development plan builds on the area’s current urban structure. There are many exciting projects ahead, and I look forward to continuing our collaboration with the school. Congratulations to everyone at Háaleitisskóli on this achievement.”
